Grand Meadow-LeRoy-Ostrander-Kingsland senior Lucas Roe opened the Class ‘AA’ individual wrestling meet with a 12-3 decision over Carter Barnes of Monticello at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Friday morning.
Roe, a LeRoy-Ostrander student, who is in his wrestling in his second state meet at 152 pounds, has a record of 39-2.
“I just wanted to get the first one out of the way. I wanted to stay tight and not get scored on,” Roe said.
Roe will wrestle in the quarterfinals later today and a win there would put him in the final four.
“I made it here last year, and I was one match away from placing. I really hope to get there this year,” he said.
