Clara Mae Johnson, 92, Rochelle

Clara Mae Johnson (Plevka), 92, of Rochelle, passed away April 10, 2013, at Rochelle Rehab and Health Care.
Clara was born on May 28, 1920, to the late Edward and Mary ( Kusy ) Plevka in Hayward Township, Minn. She graduated from Austin High School and Normal Teaching College. Clara taught school in southern Minnesota for three years. She was united in marriage to Woodrow Johnson on June 14, 1942, at Hayward Lutheran Church Hayward, Minn. Clara worked as a Teachers Aide for Rochelle and Creston Schools for several years, she also worked at Stone’s Hallmark as a clerk until her retirement.
She is survived by her children Gregg (Betty) Johnson of Lyle, Minn., Lois (Howard) Smith of Ault, Colo., Bonnie (Joe) Wright of Evanston, Wyo., Gloria (Tim) Tyler of Waterman, Ill., and Jeannie ( Jon ) Rohr of Ashton, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Woodrow, daughter Marie McIntyre, brother Joseph Plevka and granddaughter Annette Maggard.
Services will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church Flagg Road, Rochelle, Ill. The Rev. Chris Heller officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside service will take place Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Hayward Cemetery in Hayward, Minn. Memorials maybe directed to the Faith Lutheran Church or Serenity Hospice Oregon. All arrangements were entrusted to the Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Homes Rochelle, Ill.
