Len Oelkers has resigned from the Hayfield School Board and as CEO of Hayfield Window & Door Co., citing personal reasons for both decisions.
Oelkers voluntarily left the school board in mid-March. Hayfield’s superintendent Ron Evjen said he did not go into detail about his decision to resign.
“Personal reasons is what he said in his letter,” Evjen said.
Oelkers left his job in February. President and owner Richard Rouhoff said it was Oelkers’ choice to leave.
On Monday, school board member Kathy Hegna took over as board chair. Hegna Zelinske did not return calls for comment.
Evjen said the district will find a seventh board member to fill Oelkers’ spot.
Oelkers had been chairperson of the school board in previous years, and the board unanimously voted for him to remain in that position at a Jan. 14 school board meeting organizing the 2013 year.
