Kenneth Philip Brandt, 67, of Austin, Minn., died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at his home.

Kenny was born on Sept. 19, 1945, in Austin to Philip and Evelyn (Haugen) Brandt. A 1963 graduate of Austin High School, he worked for Brandt Brothers, a cement contractor, before enlisting in the United States Army. He served his country in Germany until 1966. In 1967, he began his career with Hormel Foods Corporation, where he worked for 43 years before retiring.

On Aug. 12, 1967, Kenny married Joyce Christenson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple was married 46 years and raised two children. His interests included football, fishing, hunting, gardening, camping and enjoying the outdoors. Kenny was a charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin, as well as a member of the Eagles Club and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Brandt of Austin; daughter Shannon (David) Hart of Lyle; son Troy Brandt of Austin; brother Harold (Sandi) Brandt of Austin; and six grandchildren, Hailee Hart, Colton Lange, Jordan Hart, Bailee Brandt, Sydnee Brandt and Bella Brandt. He was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Evelyn Brandt, and one brother, Richard Brandt, in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Glenn Monson officiating. Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 19 at Worlein Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
