Mamie Kintz

Mamie Ellen Lund was born May 27, 1909, in Ladysmith, Wis., to Rasmus and Emelie (Nelson) Lund in a log cabin built by her father, an immigrant from Norway. Mamie was baptized at Norwegian Lutheran Church, now known as Hope Lutheran. At age 16, she was confirmed by the Rev. Glag Langehough in Ladysmith. She attended grade school and high school in Ladysmith. In 1927, she entered the St. Olaf Hospital Nursing School in Austin, graduating in 1930. She was employed by St. Olaf Hospital and the Austin Clinic, working for Dr. Hagan and Dr. Seery.

In Sept. 1931, Mamie was united in marriage to Leonard Hall in Austin. To this union four children were born. Leonard passed away in 1949. On Sept. 8, 1960, she married Clark D. Kintz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Clark passed away in August 1990. Mamie was a faith filled woman full of kindness, loving and forgiving, understanding, and never said anything bad about anyone. Her family came first in her life. God, our savior and St. Olaf Lutheran Church were very important to her. At St. Olaf, Mamie belonged to the Mission Circle, was chairman of the Altar Guild and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed journaling and playing cards, and was a great cook. Mamie baked many Norwegian goodies, including a lot of lefse.

Left to mourn her passing are five children, Darlene Hall Koch of Austin, Sharon (Joseph) Hall Stephani of Pine City, Minn., Craig (Virginia) Kintz of Leesburg, Va., Damon (Roylean) Kintz of Cresco, Iowa, Jerry (Sybil) Kintz of Alexandria, Va.; daughter-in-law Jeanne Hall of Redmond, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
