Diane M. Sorensen, 59, of Rochester, Minn., passed away Saturday evening, May 4, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Diane was born June 7, 1953, in Austin, Minn., to Floyd and Madeline (Howden) Sorensen. Diane grew up in the Waltham area and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1971. She moved to Rochester and attended St. Marys School of Practical Nursing where she earned her LPN license. While working at St. Marys, she returned to college and earned her registered nurse degree. Diane worked at St. Marys Hospital more than 35 years and retired in August 2010. She enjoyed the great outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, motorcycling and the annual Sorensen Family campout at Kamp Dels in Waterville, Minn. Church was important to Diane and she attended Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester.
Survivors include her father, Floyd Sorensen of Kasson, Minn.; four brothers, Norman (Naomi) Sorensen of Salinas, Calif., Mark (Cindy) Sorensen of Rochester, Minn., Brian (Debra) Sorensen of Waltham, Minn., and Daniel (Christina) Sorensen of Waltham; many wonderful nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Madeline Sorensen.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 104 First Ave. NE, Blooming Prairie, MN 55917, with Pastor Matthew Fennell officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in Blooming Prairie Cemetery. Memorials preferred to First Baptist Church, Blooming Prairie. Services performed by Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home.
