Emergency crews had another scare on Monday afternoon on an Interstate 90 overpass, where a teenager jumped or fell to his death last week.
Austin Police officers and emergency personnel went to the 28th Street bridge on the east side of Austin, where a teen from Gerard was reportedly threatening to jump at about 1 p.m. Monday. Officers were able to resolve the situation within minutes, said Capt. Dave McKichan, and the person is OK.
McKichan said Austin Police, state patrol and Gerard are working to prevent further incidents. Last Thursday, the Interstate was shut down for several hours after a teen jumped or fell into traffic.
Gerard is a non-locked residential treatment facility in Austin for youth ages 6-18 who have emotional or behavioral issues.
