Come join the Austin Farmers Market from 4 to 7 p.m. this Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at our brand new location on the corner of Oakland Ave and Fourth Street Northeast for our opening week.
With many vendors to choose from, we will have a variety of farm fresh spring vegetables, free range eggs, sustainably raised meats, canned and baked goods, local honey and of course homemade crafts.
There will be many of your favorite vendors from last year, and we are welcoming some new faces as well.
We want to thank you for supporting your local farmers and crafters and are excited to begin this new season. We have many exciting things in store for our community this year.
Recipe Lemon-Sesame Asparagus
•2 pounds asparagus, ends trimmed, each stalk cut diagonally into thirds
•1 1/2 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
•1 1/2 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
•2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
Cook asparagus in large pot of boiling salted water until crisp-tender, about 3 minutes. Drain. Rinse asparagus under cold water, draining again.
Heat toasted sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add asparagus and sauté until heated through, about 2 minutes. Add lemon juice and toss until well coated, about 1 minute. Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
