HASTINGS — The Austin boys golf team advanced three golfers to the finals on the first day of the Section 1AA meet in Bellwood Oaks Golf Course Thursday.

Austin senior Alex Thorson, who went to state last year, shot an 83, James Snee shot an 87 and Tony Baudler shot a 90.

“The weather today put everyone’s game to the test. Rain, winds and burnt fairways were just some of the factors today,” Austin head coach Chris Gogolewski said. “In the past two years, day two’s weather has always been different from day one. I’m looking forward to seeing what scores will come in on Monday.”

Austin had a team score of 352 on the day.
