Hayfield softball team advances to Section 1A title game

They did it the hard way, but the Hayfield softball team will have a chance at Blooming Prairie in the Section 1A title game Thursday at Todd Park at 5 p.m.

The Vikings (14-8 overall) rattled off their fourth straight win in an elimination game when they beat Lewiston-Altura 8-7 and topped Houston 12-7 in eight innings the Section 1A tournament in Todd Park Tuesday.

The Vikings looked like they were finished when they trailed Houston 7-1 and they scored six runs in the top of the fifth to tie it. Hayfield added five runs in the top of the eighth to put it away.

Hayfield will have to beat BP twice to on Thursday to get the Class ‘A’ state tournament and the Awesome Blossoms have went to state the last three years.
