Cattle enthusiasts gathered at the sixth annual Minnesota Junior Spring Classic at the Mower County Fairgrounds on April 12 through 14.
Mark Hoge, Macomb, Ill., and Josh Elder, Dunlap, Iowa, evaluated the 360 head of cattle, and Dylan Celander, Adams, claimed the honors of Champion Foundation Simmental Female with his heifer.
Celander was one of 220 youth who participated in the weekend-long event. Most contestants began their weekend with a fitting, feeding, advocacy and showmanship boot camp sponsored by Purina Animal Nutrition, along with a Saturday night dinner for all participants, provided by Zinpro Performance Minerals.
On Sunday, Hoge and Elder sorted through 230 heifers and 130 steers.
