Police believe two people who were arrested after a traffic stop early this morning are connected to a theft at the Mower County Senior Center.
An Austin Police officer stopped a 16-year-old driver in the 700 block of 10th Street Northwest for driving without his lights on, according to the police report. The report adds the officer noticed a marijuana grinder in plain view in the car. The officer arrested the driver and 21-year-old passenger and questioned them about numerous candy bars, jerky sticks, a case of soda and two large speakers, which were reportedly missing from the senior center.
The officer also found 4.5 grams of marijuana in the car, along with $605 in cash, according to the report. Both suspects were placed in the Mower County jail.
The 16-year-old may be charged with DWI, burglary and theft, and the 21-year-old could face charges for burglary and marijuana possession in a vehicle.
