Lorraine Carine Ellingson, 93, passed away on June 26, 2013, at Sunrise Reminiscence Care in Minnetonka, Minn. Lorraine resided on her farm in Waltham for 50 years, then moved to her home in Austin, Minn.
Lorraine was born on Jan. 18, 1920, daughter of Ole and Bertha (Sorenson) Brua of Emmons, Minn. She married Orville Ellingson on April 5, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hayfield, Minn. Lorraine and Orville lived and worked on the farm outside Waltham until his death in 1973. She continued to manage the farm and worked as a teacher’s aide in the Hayfield School District until she moved to Austin in 1994. While living in Austin she was active in her church, in various clubs, and in activities with friends and travel.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Orlyn (Megs) Ellingson, Lakeville, Minn., Betty (Don) Schmidt, Sioux Falls, S.D., David (Kathy) Ellingson, Sheboygan, Wis., Dennis (Kim) Ellingson, Hanoi, Vietnam, and Lorrie Mirams, Park City, Utah; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Suby, Worthington, Minn.; and four brothers, Leroy Brua, Moorhead, Minn.; Robert Brua, in McVille, N.D., Duane Brua in Eugene, Ore., and Glen Brua, McIntosh, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Trumaine.
The funeral service for Lorraine Ellingson will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 First St. SE, Hayfield, Minn., with the Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Czaplewski Funeral Home, 501 Second St. NW, Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
