Fun Days return to Rose Creek

The small town celebration, bike-pedaling action and onstage entertainment continue this weekend. Keep passing summertime with these fun opportunities.
1. Run to Rose Creek
Austin’s turn is over, so get back out to the small towns and enjoy the festivities, which continue this weekend at Rose Creek Fun Days. Friday features the ever-popular kickball tournament; Saturday will include the traditional firemen’s windsor chop supper and dance, and Sunday closes with the third annual car show, with proceeds benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
2. Math? No, music
Music fans don’t need to do math to enjoy the power of 10 tonight. Power of 10, a big band of 10 people from the Twin Cities, will hit the Paramount Theatre stage, 125 Fourth Ave. NE, at 7:30 p.m. The band plays many hits, ranging from classic to new-age. Tickets are $17 for adults and $7 for students at the door.
3. Southern-style Summerset
Enter the south with Summerset Theatre’s production of “Steel Magnolias,” a story of family, friendship and humor. The story, which takes place in a Louisiana beauty parlor, is an emotional story appropriate for all ages.
While the production already opened this week, two more viewings are available 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $13 for adults and $9 for children age 16 and younger.
4. Back on the bikes
Now a week past the 25-mile Dan Ulwelling Bike Race, recharge those legs for the 15th annual Shooting Star Trail Bike Ride on Saturday. Riders take off from the Rose Pedaler in Rose Creek starting with century riders at 7 a.m. Others continue at 8:30 a.m. Registration takes place at 6:30 a.m. and is $20 per person or $50 per family.
5. Jammin’
Just because it’s Sunday doesn’t mean the fun is over. Check out the Johnsburg Jamboree all day in Johnsburg, south of Adams on 640th Avenue. There will be food, polka, a church service, bake sale, raffles and more.
