Austin homes selling for more in 2013

Austin home sales were flat in July, but they continue to sell quicker and at an increased price.
There were 33 homes sold in Austin last month, compared to 32 in July 2012, according to data released last week by the Southeast Minnesota Association of Realtors. But homes are selling on average in 15 weeks through the first seven months of 2013, compared to more than 17 weeks during the same span in 2012. The median price this year is $97,500, up dramatically from $75,000 in 2012.
“The market continues at a healthy pace,” Shawn Buryska, SEMAR president, said.
There have been 208 homes sold in Austin this year, down 6.7 percent from 223 during that span in 2012. There have been 278 homes sold in Mower County this year, up 1.8 percent from 273 in 2012, and they’re selling on average for $104,500, up 19.1 percent from $124,400 last year, according to Re/Max.
In Owatonna this year, sales are flat. Homes sales are up 16.7 percent in Albert Lea, 1.4 percent in Winona/Goodview, and 8 percent in Rochester.
The 208 homes sold in Austin this year is below the 215 in Winona/Goodview, and surpasses the 171 in Owatonna and the 126 in Albert Lea.
