Florene June Viall, 97, Austin

Florene June Viall, 97, went home to be with the lord and her beloved husband on Aug. 4, 2013, in Austin, Minn., after a brief illness.

Florene was born on June 1, 1916, to A.J. and Wilma Emma (Hitzeman) Ziemer in Waltham, Minn. On June 19, 1939, she was married to Floyd Donald Viall at First Baptist Church in Austin. She taught rural school for 10 years, and had the privilege of being a homemaker. Florene devoted her life to her family and Christ, as an ambassador through Christian Women’s Club, First Baptist and Grace Baptist Church, with more than 60 years combined as a primary and high school Sunday school teacher and as a church librarian in Austin.

Florene was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Garden Club, Girl Scouts of America leader; a Gray Lady and a board member of the American Red Cross throughout her lifetime. She was also active in Community Bible Study both in Austin and The Cedars. In her spare time, Florene loved to garden, sew and cook. She was an avid reader, always learning as well as a very creative crafter.

Florene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; brother, Douglas Ziemer; and son-in-law, Thomas Studebaker.

Florene is survived by her son, Nathan Viall; daughter, Elizabeth Snyder; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and one brother, Donald Ziemer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Brett Williams officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Monday morning for one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions are appreciated to Grace Baptist Church, Missions — either Jim and Julie Leonard, Baptists Mid-Missions or Sue Farley, ABWE; or Mayo Medical Center – Austin Hospice Group or the Girl Scouts of America.
