Kenneth P. Zoller, 100, of Rochester, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Samaritan Bethany Home in Rochester.
Ken was born May 6, 1913, to a first generation German immigrant, Johann Karl ‘Carl’ Zoller and mother Mary (Hans) Zoller. At that time their home was in Lakota, Kossuth County, Iowa. While Ken’s father died young at age 65, Mary lived on to age 96. Ken was preceded in death by wife Lucille Agnes (Ohnstad) and daughter Dolores Mae; also by brothers Henry Donald, Albert Chris, Erwin Peter, Wilbur Hugo, Vernon Dean and Charles Duane; sisters Novella Wilma, and Jeanette M. Ken and Lucille were married March 21, 1934, and enjoyed 54 years of marriage.
He is survived by son Jon Peter (Margo), grandson Todd Michael (Racquel), and granddaughter Ann Marie Burgeson (Larry), great grandsons Conner and Duncan Zoller and Xander Burgeson. Ken is also survived by wife Veronica ‘Roni’ (Kvasnicka). They were married Feb. 7, 1992 and have lived at the current Samaritan Bethany address for several years. It has been a place of blessed transition for both of them.
Roni’s seven living children are Dan (Nan) McGuiness, Kathy (Dick) Goodman, Pat (Mary Beth) Underwood, Jack (Kim) Underwood, Mary Kay Underwood (Ben Henderson), Laurie Bienko, and Joan Underwood. Survivors also include a very extended family.
Ken’s memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, in the Samaritan Bethany Home Chapel, 24 NW 8th St., Rochester, with Chaplain Jean Boese officiating. In accordance with his wishes, Ken’s body has been donated to the Mayo Clinic Anatomical Bequest Program. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea, Minn., at a later date. Memorials can be directed to Samaritan Bethany Foundation. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
