Loren Lawrence Spinler, 81, of Lyle, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Adams Health Care Center.

He was born Feb. 27, 1932, in Steele County, Minn. to Joseph and Gladys (Wilson) Spinler.   On Oct. 1, 1950, Loren married Donna Olson at First Methodist Church in Owatonna, Minn.  The couple raised five children. Living in the Austin/Lyle area, Loren operated his own construction company by the age of 26. He built many homes in and around the Austin area and was noted as an excellent cement contractor. After moving to the Lyle area in 1972, Loren started farming and raising pigs. He attended auctioneer college, and enjoyed conducting auctions. An avid trapper, Loren was active in the Trapper’s Association where he was past Minnesota State Association president and the state Trapper’s Association auctioneer for the past 25 years. He enjoyed this connection immensely. Loren bought and sold traps for his business, Loren’s Trapper Supply, as well as serving as an instructor in trapping education for young people. A member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Loren served on many church boards and was an officer on the board of directors of Woodbury Cemetery Association. His other favorite activities were hunting, fishing, dancing, and flea marketing at SIDS in Osage, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Donna of Lyle, his children Richard (Mary) Spinler of Brownsdale, Yuri Justin of Ellendale, Sandra (Ernie) Halbach of Austin, Suzanne (Vern) Larson of Austin, and Joseph (Amy) Spinler of Le Sueur; grandchildren Kristopher (Brandy) Spinler, Kevin (Natalie) Spinler, Melissa (Jeremy) Verness, Philip (Rachel) Halbach, Alex Halbach, Lindsay (Brice) Exley, Andrew Larson, Patrick Larson, Bethany (Grahm) Neve, Allison Spinler, Kindra Spinler, Erica Spinler; step-grandchildren Tina Larson, Dustin Steinbrink, Adam Steinbrink, Charity Steinbrink, Cody Steinbrink, Cheyenne Steinbrink; 14 great grandchildren; a brother Gordon Spinler of Owatonna,  sisters Pat (Lloyd) Nedved of Nevis and Linda (Dean) Duffenbach of Owatonna; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Gladys Spinler, his grandparents, his daughter-in-law Sandra Spinler, great granddaughter Patrice Grace Spinler, in-laws Andrew and Grace Olson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin with Rev. Glenn Monson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
