A Brownsdale City Council seat is open after a councilman submitted his resignation at the last meeting.
Aronn Oakland submitted his resignation at the Sept. 3 meeting, city clerk Theresa Booms said, because he took a job promotion. The resignation means people can submit letters to the city clerk’s office by Sept. 27 explaining why they want to run for the position.
The council will appoint the next council member at its Oct. 7 meeting. The new council member will serve until November 2014, when the seat is up for reelection. Thus far, Carol Larick, who ran for the seat last November, and Brad Peterson have submitted letters.
