Albert Lea police arrested a 30-year-old man on multiple charges Friday evening after dispatchers received a report of a man with a gun holding a hostage in his home on East Richway Drive.
Officers were told by a third-party caller that a possible domestic dispute had taken place at a home, 1113 E. Richway Drive, and that the man, identified as Jesse Samuel Garcia, had a gun and potentially had a hostage, according to the Albert Lea Police Department. The call came in at about 6:15 p.m.
When officers arrived at the residence, they secured a perimeter around the home and spotted Garcia in the backyard, police stated. They later observed Garcia begin to walk away from the house and into a nearby park. When officers arrived they did not find a hostage, so it was unknown if there was one at any time.
At that point, the officers arrested Garcia, discovering a concealed firearm in his waistband. The gun was reportedly a Kel Tec 9 mm pistol.
Garcia was arrested on the following charges: possession of a firearm by a felon, terroristic threats, domestic assault with injury, carrying a firearm without a permit and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
He is being held in the Freeborn County jail pending formal charges.
