A witness helped bust two alleged thieves last week in Austin after watching one rummage through a car.

According to the police report, the witness saw one man rummaging through the car with the dome light on last Thursday night while a woman stood as a lookout in the 1100 block of Fifth Place SE. Police arrived and confronted the alleged thieves, both 24. An officer cited both suspects for trespassing and tampering with a vehicle. The woman was released while the man was taken to the Mower County jail for a past history of failure to appear in court.
