One of several men involved in a Sept. 19, 2012, fight was sent to prison on Monday.
Brian LaKeith Bell, 26, of Milwaukee, Wis., was sentenced to 36 months in prison for felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. A charge for felon in possession of a firearm was dismissed, and Bell was given credit for 177 days in jail.
Officers went to the fight in Austin last September and arrested Bell. Witnesses said, according to the court complaint, that a group followed two people home and threatened to shoot them. One man said he had “enough bullets for y’all,” according to the complaint.
Witnesses said Bell walked near a fence when he heard police were coming and stashed a .25-caliber pistol. Witnesses also allege that other assailants carried a pipe and a tire iron.
Bell originally claimed he was walking by the scene but did not participate in the fight, according to the court complaint.
