A maintenance worker with a keen eye helped Austin police catch an alleged burglar on Wednesday morning.
Police went to the 600 block of 25th Ave. NW near the Murphy Creek Townhomes where a maintenance worker saw a suspicious person enter someone’s home. According to the police report, the employee was fairly certain the person was not a tenant or guest and called police. While police were en route, the report added, the suspect fled from maintenance workers and the area. Police later found the suspect in Mapleview and arrested him.
Police also spoke with the tenants, who discovered they were missing a Macbook Pro computer. However, the computer was not recovered. The alleged burglar is in the Mower County jail and awaits potential charges of burglary and theft.
