A suspect who is accused of strangling a woman with an extension cord and dumping chocolate milk on her changed took a plea deal last week in Mower County Court.

Christopher Maricle, 23, of Austin, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic assault. In exchange, a felony domestic assault by strangulation charge was dismissed.

Austin Police officers arrested Maricle at about 12:30 a.m. June 24 after the victim reported the assault, according to the court complaint. The victim said a verbal argument happened in the garage and escalated when the suspect grabbed her wrist, pushed her down and wrapped a cord around her neck.

The complaint added the victim was able to go into the house, but Maricle poured chocolate milk on her and around the house and broke several items, including a coffee table.

Maricle will be sentenced in January.
