Richard Riley Corporon, 78, of Austin, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at The Cedars of Austin.
He was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Samuel and Della (Graham) Corporon. Richard worked for Milwaukee Railroad, and then attended Austin Vocational-Technical Institute for training in welding and carpentry. He later worked for Universal Co-op, IBM, and then Johnson Floral. He served his country in the United States Army. On Sept. 3, 1956, he was united in marriage to Patricia Townsend in Redding, England. The couple moved to Austin in 1957, and raised three daughters and two sons. He and Patricia worked as custodians at Christ Episcopal Church. Patricia passed away in December 2012.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Corporon and Cindy Ramaker, both of Austin, Lorraine (Duane) Felt of Adams; two sons, Anthony (Tina) Corporon and Todd Corporon, both of Austin; six grandchildren, Tina, Chad, Amanda, Kyle, Trystyn, and Ivy; three great grandchildren Leyton, Miley, and Phoenix; his sister Oleta Newell of California. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Della Corporon, his wife Patricia Corporon, his son-in-law Butch Ramaker, his brother Donald Corporon, two sisters, Rita Ronquist and Barbara Hovey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Glenn Monson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216.
