Robert J. “Bob” Sheehan, 72, of Adams, Minn., formerly of Watertown, S.D., passed away on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Michael Wensing as celebrant. Music will be provided by Mallory Olsen as song leader and Donna Williams as organist.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Visitation will continue on Friday prior to the services at the church.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Watertown, S.D. Military Honors will be conducted by the Codington County Post 17 of the American Legion and S.D. Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Watertown.

Pallbearers will be Doug Mack, Greg Dosch, Mike Sheehan, Terry Moeller, Jeff Hansen and Gary Grewing.

Robert Joseph Sheehan was born on Oct. 12, 1941, to Donald and Lucille (Jensen) Sheehan in Pennock, Minn. The family moved to Watertown where Bob attended school, graduating from Watertown High School in 1959. He then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Bob enlisted in the United States Army on Feb. 21, 1961, and was honorably discharged on Dec. 2, 1963.

On Aug. 1, 1964, he married Sue Afinson and they lived in Watertown where they raised their five children. Bob was employed in advertising at the Watertown Public Opinion for 37 years. He retired in 2005.

His pride and joy was watching his children and grandchildren participate in athletics and activities. He also enjoyed golfing and spending as much time as he could with his family.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Lisa Sheehan of Adams; his sons, Bob (Jill) Sheehan of Rose Creek, Minn.; David Sheehan and Brent (Aimee) Sheehan of Austin, Minn.; and Jeff (Kerri) Sheehan of Hayti, S.D.; his siblings, Kathleen (Doug) Rausch of Lakewood, Colo.; Donald (Kay) Sheehan of Littleton, Colo; Dan Sheehan of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mary Jo Foster of Huron, S.D.; and Linda Brojborg of Kernersville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William Sheehan; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Brojborg.

There will be a memorial service at Sacred Heart Church in Adams from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29. A pray service for the family and public will begin at 7:30 p.m.
