A Rochester man awaits possible charges after allegedly robbing employees at gunpoint at the Casey’s General Store in Blooming Prairie over the weekend.
According to Blooming Prairie Police, the man entered the store at about 4 a.m. Saturday and had his face covered by a scarf. However, employees reportedly recognized the man from earlier and were able to help authorities locate the man.
Blooming Prairie Police Chief Paul Wayne said a state trooper later arrested the man in Dodge County and recovered a small amount of cash. Authorities will use a search warrant to investigate the vehicle. There was no word on a weapon as of Monday morning.
The robbery is the second at the Blooming Prairie Casey’s in less than a year. On Nov. 17, 2012, police arrested then 19-year-old Bobby James Smitty after he robbed the store at gunpoint. He was convicted of felony simple robbery and sentenced to a year in prison.
