A local music group wants to help cancer research by donating proceeds from its new CD to The Hormel Institute.
The Institute and the group, Spiritually Motivated, invite residents to the research center Wednesday to kick off the new CD, “A Journey Together.”
Copies will be available for sale from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday in The Institute’s main lobby. CDs will be sold for $15 each, with proceeds going to support cancer research at The Hormel Institute.
Spiritually Motivated, an off-shoot of the Adult Choir at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, began as an ecumenical choral group in 1997, under the guidance of choral director Jan Muzik. After a hiatus, the group recently was reborn when Jim King, of Eighth Avenue Recording in Austin, enlisted former members Michael Veldman, Erin Schumacher, Faye Bollingberg, Brendhan Wagner, Brian Bawek and Jan Muzik to lend their talents to create an album that gives all of its proceeds to cancer research.
“This album is the result of their efforts and compassion for such an important cause,” King said in a press release. “We’re just proud of The Hormel Institute and all that they stand for.”
Copies of the CD also will be sold at Berg’s Nursery; Caribou Coffee; Coffee House on Main; Jim’s Market Place Foods; Philomathian; St. Augustine Church; Sterling Main Street; and The Hardy Geranium.
