County officials are racing against weather to see if a recently condemned bridge can be replaced yet this year.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation — the bridge inspection authority for Mower County — condemned a bridge on County Road 46 or 220th Street, the frontage road along Interstate 90 between the Austin County Club and Nicolville.

The bridge is the middle of three bridges on County Road 46 and is east of County Road 24. If the county can’t replace the bridge before winter sets in, no residents will be blocked in. Residents can travel east to Highway 56 or west to 28th Street Northeast by the country club.
