The Homeward Bound Theatre Company will present a new musical at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center in Albert Lea.
The musical “Children’s Letters to God” is based on the best-selling book of the same name. There will be three performances in Albert Lea. Two performances are at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 23, and a third performance will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 24.
The show follows five young friends as they voice beliefs, desires, questions and doubts, which are taken directly from letters of young people writing to God. There are 16 songs and various scenes that explore issues like sibling rivalry, divorce, holidays, loss of pets and first love, among other topics.
Albert Lea is one of three cities in Minnesota to feature the musical. The show was performed earlier this month in Lakeville, and it will be presented in Grand Rapids in January.
“It is a unique opportunity to bring live, family-friendly entertainment to the Twin Cities area,” Artistic Director Bruce Kirkpatrick said.
The Homeward Bound Theatre Company was founded in 1993 and is committed to providing theater productions for youth and adult audiences. Its focus it to hold performing arts features that encourage family values and positive relationships.
