Calling all former Austin High School band members.

The AHS pep band is reviving the tradition of an “alumni pep band” night on Friday, Dec. 20, for the AHS boys basketball game against Red Wing.

Director Brad Mariska is extending an invite to former band members of all ages.

“Whether you graduated in 1912 or 2012, you’re invited to play with the pep band on Dec. 20,” Mariska said.

The date has been scheduled around the holiday so recent graduates who attend college outside the area will also be able to take part.

Local musicians are welcome and encouraged to join, even if they didn’t graduate from AHS. “Alumni Night is for all friends and band alumni, whether they are originally from Austin or not,” Mariska said.

Anyone wanting to join the band on Friday should report to the AHS band room by 6 p.m. to get music. AHS pep band shirts will also be available for anybody who wants to purchase one. Anyone needing further information should contact Mariska at bradley.mariska@austin.k12.mn.us.

Mariska is confident that the night will be a lot of fun for band members of all ages. One slight note of caution, joked Mariska, “It might get loud.”
