The Annual Austin High School holiday concert will be at 7 p.m. Monday in Knowlton Auditorium.

Band, orchestra and choir students will take to the stage in an evening of holiday music both traditional and contemporary. For those who arrive early, students will begin prelude music in the lobby at 6:30 p.m.

The concert will feature many familiar pieces, such as “O Holy Night” and orchestra students performing “White Christmas.” The concert will also include the longstanding, traditional finale with the singing of “The Hallelujah Chorus” and “Silent Night.”

The ensembles will add splashes of contemporary music with the Austinaires’ vocal ensemble performing “Swingin’ at Santa’s Place” and the Concert Choir singing the rhythmic Nigerian carol “Betelehemu.”

Orchestra students will collaborate with electric guitar and drums to perform a version of “Carol of the Bells,” made famous by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the Wind Ensemble will perform a musical celebration of Hanukkah with “Festival of Lights.”

The concert is directed by Brian Johnson (choirs), Gene Schott (orchestras), and Brad Mariska (bands).

Tickets for the concert will be available at the door, and AHS activity passes and music boosters of Austin membership passes will also be honored.
