The Austin City Council is set to approve its 2014 budget and property tax levy at its upcoming meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday inside City Council Chambers.

The council will likely approve a $4,120,000 levy for next year, which would decrease property taxes throughout the city by about 1 percent. Next year, the city will have a $30.8 million budget.

Council members will also approve the city’s five-year capital improvement plan, hold public hearings on rezoning and street reconstruction projects, and set appointments to city committees starting in 2014.
