An accused thief, whom authorities allegedly chased at speeds of more than 100 mph in November, has pleaded not guilty to four charges in Mower County Court.
Susanne Bryan, 26, of Austin, pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony flee in a vehicle and misdemeanors for reckless driving, collision with an unattended vehicle and theft.
Austin Police received a theft report from Walmart shortly after 5 p.m. Nov. 15, along with a description of the suspect and her red car. Officers found the suspect and began following her from northwest to southwest Austin. According to the court complaint, the woman ran through several stop signs, hit speeds more than 60 mph in town and even hit a parked vehicle on Fourth Avenue Southwest.
The woman allegedly backed away from the parked car and fled out of town. The suspect then went west on County Road 28, where she sped up to 110 to 115 miles per hour, the complaint added. Authorities arrested the woman after she reportedly parked in Oakland in Freeborn County and fled through yards on foot. According to the complaint, the woman had more than $300 in stolen items.
A pretrial is set for May 2.
