George A. Knutson, 87, of Faribault, Minn., and formerly of Austin, died on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Faribault, on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Craig Breimhorst officiating. Interment and military rites will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

George A., the son of Alfred “Fritz” and Alice (Braham) Knutson was born on Jan. 10, 1926, in Jericho, Iowa. He graduated from New Hampton High School, New Hampton, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Gloria Mae Meyerhoff on Aug. 26, 1948, in Elma, Iowa, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2012. They moved to Austin in 1950, and later to Faribault in 1986. He was formerly employed by Chevy dealership in New Hampton; Hormel in Austin, and also provided a repair service in Austin, “Let George Do It.”

He is survived by five sons, Lars, of Aurora, Ill.; David, of Maplewood; Brian (and Kathy), of Faribault; Daniel (and Charlotte), of Bloomington; Paul (and Jodi) of Maplewood; 11 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; a stillborn daughter, Pamela Rae; one daughter in law, Paula; and his parents.
