No one was injured and no charges were filed after an unmarked Austin Police Department cruiser was struck by another vehicle last week.
Police Capt. Dave McKichan said an officer traveling north on North Main Street and First Avenue was struck by another car at about 6:35 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25. McKichan said there was significant damage to the unmarked car, and an insurance estimate on the police vehicle is pending. He said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
“Our vehicles can put between 80,000 to 100,000 miles on it every two years, in the city,” McKichan said. “Occasionally, unfortunately, there are minor fender-benders.”
