Performers are coming to the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center tonight and Saturday.
Ken Lonnquist, Tom Pease and Friends will perform 7 p.m. Friday at the Ruby Rupner Auditorium. Lonnquist, of Madison, Wis., is a full-time performer for more than a quarter century who has toured widely through the U.S. and Canada at clubs, festivals, colleges and schools. Ken sees music as “a living river … moving through life, surrounding us daily,” and sings about nature, love, environmental and political issues, families and children.
Pease is no stranger to the Nature Center and will again bring his song and upbeat message to the auditorium along with Lonnquist.
On Saturday, Lonnquist, Pease and Friends star in “Old Befana” at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
“Old Befana” is based on an ancient holiday story, with roots pre-dating Christianity. Befana, with her message of hope and goodwill, is the beloved Santa figure in Italy and eastern Europe, deeply woven into their Yuletide holiday traditions. Lonnquist’s musical retelling began in 1987 and has been performed in front of audiences every year since. The programs are free and open to the public, for more information, call 507-437-7519.
