The Friends of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center annual meeting will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Ruby Rupner Auditorium at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.

The meeting will highlight the accomplishments of 2013 and will conclude with a program by reporter and author William Souder. Souder will discuss his  latest book, “On a Farther Shore: the Life and Legacy of Rachel Carson,” which explores the conditions that led Carson to write her groundbreaking best-seller about the impact man-made chemicals have had on the environment, “Silent Spring.”
