Interstate 90 was shut down temporarily on Tuesday morning after a person threatened to jump off the 28th Street Northeast bridge.
Austin Police officers and Mower County Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 11 a.m. to the 28th Street bridge over Interstate 90 in east Austin for the potential suicide.
However, the person did not jump, said Sheriff Terese Amazi, and was not injured other than possible frostbite.
Officers and deputies reportedly eased the situation with their K-9 when they allowed the potential jumper to pet the dog. The person is being evaluated.
