Contrary to reports, Oak Park Mall is not closing on Sundays.

Shan Kehrit, the mall’s marking director, said rumors and reports saying the mall will begin closing on Sundays in February are false. The mall will just be locking the entrance by the food court area.

“The mall is not closed on Sunday,” Kehret assured.

Stores like GNC, Shopko, Sears, Younkers, ASC Affordable Computers, Legacy Comics, Gypsy Imports, Party Zone, Tow Bears Trading Post, Anytime Fitness and CineMagic 7 will still be open regular hours on Sundays. The center part of the mall, where no stores are open on Sundays, will be gated off, which has been the recent practice.

“These stores are still open to the public their same hours, it’s just the main doors aren’t going to be open because everything in-between isn’t open,” Kehret said.
