Minneapolis police investigate light rail death

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating the death of a pedestrian hit by a light rail train.
Authorities say a man was struck at an intersection about 6 p.m. Sunday. The train speed is about 45 mph and officials say the crossing gates were operating.
The intersection in Minneapolis was closed about two hours following the incident. Passengers were transferred to a bus. The train operator was taken off duty and tested for drugs and alcohol as per protocol.
