Pacelli to launch Hall of Honor

Pacelli Catholic Schools has created a new way to honor Pacelli families.

Pacelli officials will induct four couples into the 2014 Pacelli Hall of Honor, which honors residents who may not have graduated from Pacelli or excelled in sports, but have become vital parts of Pacelli’s background. Pacelli President Jim Hamburge said the school decided to create a hall of honor after 100 years with a hall of fame in order to address that issue.

“This is why we feel it’s the perfect time to do that,” he said.

This year’s class will include Walt and Jan Baldus, Randy and Wendy Kramer, Steve and Bonnie Murray, and Jim and Jeanne Sheehan.

Randy helped chair Pacelli’s recent fundraising campaign, which secured more than $3 million for the school, while both Randy and Wendy have volunteered for several large-scale Pacelli projects, including Pacelli’s all-school reunion last August.

Steve taught at Pacelli for more than 25 years, and the Murrays consistently gave their time and effort to the school.

Jim and Jeanne Sheehan have volunteered on Pacelli’s foundation board and board of trustees for many years, and have also helped out with Pacelli extracurriculars like cross country.

Walt and Jan have volunteered at Pacelli for many years and have sponsored several students’ tuition.

The 2014 inductees will be honored at the 2014 Hall of Honor Winter Gala starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Austin Country Club.
