The Austin Salvation Army’s 2013 kettle drive ended on a high note — a really high note.
According to Lt. David Amick, the annual campaign raised a little more than $83,000 after all matching donations were tallied and reported last week. While the goal was $60,000, an anonymous, two-day, matching donation in cities across Minnesota and North Dakota helped Austin haul in an extra $14,000 in mid-December.
“It was really an awesome finish,” Amick said. “A very exciting finish to the kettle goal, and a phenomenal way to end it.”
The added funds will help the Salvation Army bolster its assistance programs and serve more people in 2014.
