ST. PAUL — A Minnesota Senate committee is set to vote on a Capitol campus building project that’s become entangled in partisan politics.
The Senate Rules Committee meets Wednesday to approve design plans and sign off on cost estimates for a new office building for the state Senate. The building, next to the Capitol, is projected to cost $63 million plus $27 million for adjacent parking facilities.
Lawmakers authorized the construction last spring. But Republicans now say Democrats forwarded it without proper scrutiny, and say it should be delayed until a court hearing next week on a legal challenge.
