It’s time again for the Rent Rebate-Property Tax Refund.
Starting Feb. 4, Advocacy will be taking appointments to assist with the completion of the Minnesota Property Tax Refunds Return.
You will need to bring proof of income received in 2013 including:
•Social Security Income (SSA 1099 form)
•Interest income
•All 1099s related to any other income you received
•Pension information
•Human Services benefit information
•Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP) form from your landlord
Call Marianne at 507-433-3462 or Nancy at 507- 433-8376 for an appointment.
The advocates have scheduled county visits to Lyle at 1 p.m. Feb 3, Brownsdale at 1 p.m. Feb 5, Adams at 11 a.m. Feb. 6 and Rose Creek at 1 p.m., Grand Meadow at 10 a.m. Feb. 7, and LeRoy at 2 p.m. Feb. 6 to assist people in those communities.
Homeowners cannot complete returns until April or when your new property tax statements come out. The advocates will assist you at that time.
We do not complete income tax returns in the Advocacy Office but AARP volunteers will be available in the lower level of the Accentra Credit Union. They will begin to make appointments starting on Friday and will begin assisting with taxes on Feb. 3. Please call507-434-3329 to make an appointment with them.
Please note the meeting time change for February Caregivers Support Group.
The group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Mower County Senior Center. This change is for the month of February only. All caregivers are welcome. Our meetings are informal. We provide information on a topic of interest and time is given for open discussion. If you need respite care or if you have any questions, please call the Advocacy office. Marianne at 507-433-3462 or Nancy at 507-433-8376.
Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. On Tuesday, we will have spaghetti pie in the coffee shop starting at 11:30 a.m. for $2.
