Duplicate Bridge

Tournament results for Jan. 8 with four tables played: first place: Orrion Roisen and Dave Ring; second place, Romelle Enderson and Bonnie Fritz; third place, Rick Stroup and Gene Domino; fourth place, Georgia Bissen and Edna Knobbe.

Duplicate Bridge is played each Wednesday at noon at the Mower County Senior Center in Austin. All Bridge players are welcome. Call Dave Ring at 507-434-4189 for partnership assistance or additional information.

Y’s Women

Y’s Women of the Hormel Historic Home met Jan. 9 at the Mower County Humane Society.  Barry Rush, Kelly Rush and Teri Zimmerman led us on a tour of the new building, an impressive facility. It is heartwarming to see the loving care given to the animals by the volunteers.

Members then went to Perkins for lunch and a short business meeting.

The next meeting will be 2 p.m. Feb. 13. We will meet at the Austin Public Library for a program by Dustin Heckman and Jaimie Timm.

 Golden Age Club

Hazel Baldner, chairperson, conducted the monthly Golden Age meeting on Jan. 8, at the Austin Moose Lodge.

Chaplain Dee Murphy gave the prayer.

A motion was made by Sally Michels and seconded by Eloise Willimette to accept the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports as read.

January birthdays will be celebrated by Emma Heimer, Eloise Willimette, and Jerry Downing.

Eddie Hall was a guest.

Cards will be played at seven tables. The club provided the lunch.

Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
