“We continue to strive to give our patients the safest and most-customized care possible,” said Nancy Hoversten, Austin’s Women’s Special Care Unit nurse manager, in a press release. “We have always offered immediate skin-to-skin time for our babies and mothers after vaginal deliveries, and this year we initiated it with our mothers who required cesarean sections. They are able to put their newborns skin-to-skin in the operating room and breast feed if so desired. It has proven to be a huge patient satisfier. ”

Albert Lea’s Baby Place nurse manager, Amanda Forman, said special care and attention is provided to each patient.

“We also encourage the skin-to-skin time during the Golden Hour, or first hour after birth, to capture uninterrupted bonding time between mother and baby,” she said.
