Three involved in meth cases: Two have pleaded not guilty

A third suspect charged in connection with several alleged methamphetamine sales during the past months in Austin says she is not guilty

Erika Janelle Bure, 21, of Austin, was charged in Mower County Court in three different cases involving the sale of meth, and pleaded not guilty to a total of 10 felony charges last week.

In one case, she faces two charges of first-degree drug sale of more than 10 grams of meth and one charge of second-degree drug sale of more than 3 grams of meth. In another case, she faces two more charges of second-degree drug sale of meth. In a third case, she faces five felony charges: first-degree drug sale of more than 10 grams of meth, three charges of second-degree drug sale of more than 3 grams of meth and third-degree drug sale.

According to the court complaint, a confidential informant met with Bure on several occasions in November and December 2013 to buy methamphetamines. In one of Bure’s cases in November, two others were involved, including Dustin Wayne Riste, 23, and Casey James Aaron Hastings, 24. Both men are reportedly from Austin and were charged with felonies, as well. Riste was charged with two counts of second-degree drug sale of more than 3 grams of methamphetamine and one count of third-degree drug sale. He also pleaded not guilty last week. Hastings faces one charge of second-degree drug sale of more than 3 grams of methamphetamine, and he has another court appearance set for Jan. 22.

According to the court complaint, a confidential informant also met with Riste and Hastings to buy meth in November.
