Be aware of your propane situation

The perfect combination of a wet harvest, harsh winter and state pipeline change has led to a dramatic spike in the price of propane. Fingers can be pointed in any number of directions, but nothing will change the fact that Minnesota is in this situation. The only thing residents can do right now is keep an eye on propane usage and be aware of how much propane they have left.
It looks like Mower County will have an adequate amount of propane for the next couple weeks, but the demand for heating fuel has been a cause for concern. A hotline has been established for residents with questions or concerns about running out of propane. Yet local reaction to the propane shortage has been alarming. Thankfully, there are no propane thefts we know of in the area, but propane thefts have been on the rise other parts of Minnesota.
For right now, it’s just important to be aware of propane levels and usage. Those with concerns about keeping their house warm should call the recently-established state hotline at 1-800-657-3504.
