A Rose Creek man is OK after becoming trapped in grain Tuesday afternoon.
A report has not been filed with the Mower County Sheriff’s office; however, Sheriff Terese Amazi said the would-be victim is a “very, very lucky man.”
Emergency crews received a call at about 3:30 p.m. of a man trapped in a grain bin near Highway 56 and County Road 3. Amazi said the victim, Craig Arnold Nelsen, was trying to unplug a chute on the bin before grain quickly spewed out and surrounded Nelsen up to his chest.
The Rose Creek fire chief received a call about the situation and relayed the information to dispatchers with the Mower County Sheriff’s Office. Rose Creek and Adams fire departments and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene. Nelsen was OK and reportedly did not seek further medical attention.
